90-Minute Parent/Student Presentation

  • Required by the Virginia DMV for all students under 18 and their parent/guardian
  • Must be completed as part of driver’s education
  • Approved for online completion (except students in Planning District 8 – must attend in person)
  • Must be taken through the (same driving school) providing the 30-hour course

Covers:

  • Driving safety information and videos
  • Preparation for behind-the-wheel training
  • Overview of the required 45-hour supervised driving
  • Goal: Help reduce teen crashes, injuries, and fatalities

Online Driver Education

  • Minimum 30 hours of instruction

Topics include:

  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Aggressive and distracted driving
  • Motorcycle awareness
  • Pedestrian & bicycle safety
  • Organ and tissue donation awareness
  • Handicapped parking laws
  • Fuel-efficient driving
  • Traffic stops
Must be (at least 15 years old) to enroll

Final Exam Requirements

  • Must be taken *in person* to receive Certificate of Completion
  • Bring *photo ID* (DMV ID, school ID, passport, or military ID)

Exam details:

  • 50 multiple-choice questions
  • Not open-book
  • Results provided immediately

Fees:

  • $25 for each retake if failed
  • $50 cancellation fee if not rescheduled 24 hours in advance
