Paragon Driving School (PDS) provides a thorough driving course designed for new drivers, focusing on safe driving habits, understanding traffic laws, and benefiting from the experience of PDS instructors. As school budgets tighten, Paragon Driving School offers a solution for teaching teens proper driving skills with a curriculum accredited by the Virginia Department of Education. This curriculum includes 30 hours of online classroom instruction and 14 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
Paragon Driving School caters to all educational settings—private, public, and homeschooling—to fill the gap in driver education. The program aligns with Virginia's driving curriculum, comprising 30 hours of classroom sessions and 14 hours of road training (7 hours driving, 7 hours observation). These segments can be taken together or separately.
Upon passing the behind-the-wheel road test, Paragon Driving School issues a 180-Day Virginia Temporary Driver's License to drivers under 18 who meet the state's driving and age criteria, or an Adult Waiver to those 18 and older.
For the Classroom segment, students need to be at least 15 years old, and a Learner’s Permit is not required. Participants receive training to prepare for the DMV’s Signs and Knowledge tests required to obtain the Learner’s Permit.
